2011 Holiday Letter

November 22, 2011

Dear Friends and Supporters of the Brain Injury Hope Foundation,

Thank you again for your generous support for individuals with traumatic brain injuries.  Your donations go a long way toward the purchase of basic needs, such as food, rent and utilities.

This year has been a landmark year for increasing public awareness regarding sports related concussions also known as Mild Traumatic Brain Injury (MTBI) and their long term effects.  Many retired NFL and NHL sports figures are speaking about how to prevent and manage concussions for faster healing. They are attracting the attention of middle school and high school athletic coaches and parents to educate them on the symptoms and what to do.

You will be happy to know that the Colorado legislature recently passed a law, The Jake Snakenberger Youth Concussion Act, that requires athletic coaches to receive training on recognizing the symptoms of a concussion and when a player can return to the game. The student athlete must be given the OK to eventually return to play by a medical professional.

Three Ways to Contribute:

  1. Since an important part of the mission of the Brain Injury Hope Foundation (BIHF) is education, please consider buying the recently BIHF publications for friends or family members who have  suffered a sports related concussion or brain injury from a fall, auto accident or explosion. Understanding the symptoms and effects of multiple head injuries can save lives.  Suggest or purchase these books for your doctors, school athletic departments and health care professionals so they can save lives. Awareness is powerful, knowledge is empowering.
  2. What you may not know is that since we are an all Volunteer, non-profit organization, your donations go directly to help pay for emergency financial needs (rent, food, utilities) for MTBI survivors in Colorado.
  3. Volunteer your time and/or skills to the BIHF to help us create a greater awareness of this “invisible injury.” Knowing what to do to get better inspires hope for recovery.
“I’d like to sincerely thank everyone at the Brain Injury Hope Foundation for assisting with a generous emergency grant that saved my life and brought me off homelessness. In my heart, you are on the short list of excellent charitable ‘needs providers’ in Boulder County.”

If you would like to give HOPE to someone who desperately needs it and contribute to helping turn MTBI Survivors into Thrivers, please click on DONATE. Your contribution is tax deductible and the entire amount goes to our growing list of beneficiaries. Please copy this letter and pass it on to friends and family. To purchase books, please

With Warm Holiday Wishes and Gratitude,

The Brain Injury Hope Foundation Board ~~ P. O. Box 1319, Boulder, CO 80301 ~~ 303-484-2126
